Art We Love: Introduction

As we create and source lovely things for your home, we are continually inspired by artwork that explores both the symbolism and beauty of fruits and vegetables and harvests. From Caravaggio to the Dutch Masters to Matisse to the contemporary photographer Lynn Karlin, we have so much to share with you.

Fruit often represents abundance, youth, vigor, and fertility. It is lush and colorful and ripe and enlivens all of our senses. Simultaneously, it is also often treated as a reminder of fleeting life known as memento mori, or a reminder of the inevitability of death. These two themes intertwine and often are both at work in all of the striking artwork that we admire.

The wonder of the harvest is a concept that we are enthralled with- bringing nature’s bounty into the home, to enjoy its fleeting beauty. From a harvest time bouquet to a metal cabbage centerpiece, we home you’ll find some inspiration in the goods that we curate just for you.
